  • 1 cup raisins
  • ½ cup currants
  • ½ cup sliced almonds
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp mixed spice
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • Grated zest of 2 lemons
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 banana
  • About 800 g (32 oz) pie pastry
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 190°C/375°F.
  2. Grate the apples and place in a large bowl.
  3. Add in all the remaining ingredients EXCEPT the banana and mix well.
  4. Chop the banana and fold carefully into the pie mixture.
  5. Roll out the pastry and cut discs for the pie base. Place the discs in a well-greased muffin tin.
  6. Place a couple of spoons of mixture into each pie case. Don’t overfill!
  7. Cut discs for the top of the pies and press onto the pie bases.
  8. Prick the top of each pie and bake in the oven at 190°C for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before removing the pies from the tray.
  10. Dust with icing sugar and serve.
Titli's Tips
Before you remove the pies from the tray, just twist them slightly to free them up. They keep well in a plastic box for several days and can be warmed slightly in a microwave before serving.

You can also use the mincemeat (the filling) to make one large pie.
