Traditional Apple Pie
Quite simply, this is the recipe for a traditional British apple pie!

- Place the apples in a bowl together with the spices, sugar, raisins, lemon juice and lemon rind. Mix well
- Line an 8″ (20 cm) pie dish with half the pastry. Pour in the pie mixture.
- Use the remaining pastry to make a lid for the pie. Crimp the edges of the pie together. Make a few slits for steam to escape.
- Brush the pie with milk, then sieve on some caster sugar.
- Bake in the oven at 200°C for 15 minutes. Turn the heat down to 170°C and bake for a further 20 minutes.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Titli's Tips
Apple pie can be served warm or cold with cream or ice-cream. Whole apple pies can also be frozen – use a foil pie tray to bake the pie in.
