Taramasalata
Taramasalata is a delicious dip made using fish roe. This taramasalata recipe uses easy-to-find and cheap ingredients!

Ingredients
  • 100 g (3½ oz) fish roe, e.g cod roe
  • 100 g (3½ oz) sliced bread, crusts removed
  • 125 ml (4 fl oz) olive oil
  • 1 very small onion, chopped
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • A few drops of pink or red food colouring (optional)
Instructions
  1. Place all the ingredients except the olive oil in a food processor and whizz to a paste.
  2. Continue whizzing and drizzle in the olive oil.
  3. Finally, add the food colouring if using.
  4. Place the taramasalata in a bowl and allow to chill in the fridge for a few hours.
Titli's Tips
Taramasalata is traditionally made using smoked mullet roe. Depending on where you live this can be both hard to find and/or expensive. Don't be ashamed to use cheaper alternatives such as cod roe.
