Halloumi & Mushroom Cheeseburger
This is the ultimate vegetarian cheeseburger recipe! Once eaten, never forgotten.

Ingredients
  • 100 g (4 oz) halloumi cheese cut into 2 slices
  • 100 g (4 oz) mushrooms, thickly sliced
  • 2 burger buns
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper
Instructions
  1. Cut the burger buns in half and toast the insides lightly.
  2. Either place the slices of halloumi under a hot grill or heat in a flat pan. Turn over once the halloumi starts to brown and continue cooking until the cheese has started to brown on both sides.
  3. Heat the butter in a pan and sauté the mushroom for around 5 minutes. Season with pepper.
  4. Place a slice of halloumi on a bun, cover with mushrooms, pop on the lid and you're ready to scoff!
Titli's Tips
Halloumi is a cheese that doesn't really melt like other cheeses which makes it ideal for grilling and frying. It is quite widely available in Europe. Suitable alternatives outside Europe include Queso Para Frier or Queso Blanco.
