Cheese & Potato Pie

Cheese and potato pie is such an easy thing to make after a hard day at work. For an effort-to-taste ratio, they don’t come much better than this.
  • 1 kg (2 lb) potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 300 ml (10 fl oz) milk
  • 300 g (10 oz) cheese, grated
  • 50 g (2 oz) butter
  • 1 egg
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  1. Make layers of potato and cheese in a casserole dish.
  2. Melt the butter and add to the milk together with the egg. Season with salt and pepper, whisk together and pour into the casserole dish.
  3. Place the lid on the casserole and bake at 180°C for about an hour until the potatoes are cooked (test with a knife or skewer).
