Flour Tortillas

If you are going to do any Mexican cooking it is important to know how to make tortillas. Why pay a fortune for them in the shops when they are so easy to make???
Ingredients
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • ¼-⅓ cup water
Instructions
  1. Mix together the ingredients in a bowl. Add enough water to make a soft dough which is not sticky.
  2. Knead the dough for a couple of minutes, cover and leave to rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Cut the dough into 6 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  4. Press a ball of dough into a disc and roll it out on a well-floured surface.
  5. Drop the tortilla onto a pan at medium heat and cook each side for about 1 minute.

Titli's Tips
Store the tortillas in a plastic bag until ready to use. They also freeze quite well.
